Saxophonist and new music curator Drew Hosler is an advocate for contemporary music, he has commissioned and premiered over ninety pieces by award-winning composers from all over the world including Andrew Mead, Alexis Bacon, Benjamin Attahir, Gregory Wanamaker, Shelly Washington, Jamie Sampson, and Marilyn Shrude. His debut self-released solo recording Hope Will Carry Us COVID-19 EP Music for Solo Tenor Saxophone features eleven world premiere recordings from composers all over the world. A selection can be heard on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9 Florida’s Classical Music Station’s Modern Notebook for June 7: Special Marathon 2 hosted by Tyler Kline.

In addition to his passion for contemporary music, Drew is also an avid performer. He was selected as a winner of the 49th Bowling Green State University Competition in Music Performance and has performed concerti by Walter Mays and William Albright with the Bowling Green Philharmonia and the Bowling Green State University Concert Band. He has performed various works for solo saxophone at the Cortona Sessions for New Music, BGSU ArtsX Festival, and the North American Saxophone Alliance Conference.

As a chamber musician, Drew has performed at the New Music Gathering, World Saxophone Congress, Bowling Green New Music and Art Festival, Toledo Museum of Art, United States Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, and WGTE Toledo Radio. He was also a member of ensembles that won first and second prizes at the Douglas Wayland Chamber Music Competition. Drew is also a founding member, saxophonist, and Director of Public Relations for the new music chamber ensemble, The _____ Experiment. In March 2020, the ensemble released their debut CD entitled Conversations.

Drew is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Michigan, and he holds a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from Bowling Green State University. His primary instructors have been Timothy McAllister and John Sampen. He has performed in masterclasses with world-renowned saxophonists including Jan Berry Baker, Connie Frigo, Randal Hall, Jeffrey Heisler, Daniel Kientzy, and Bill Street.
